Congregation Or Ami Community High Holiday Services

sPlease be our guest and join us for our annual Community High Holiday Services held at the JCC.  The season of celebration and reflection begins with S’lichot on Saturday evening, September 24, 2011 at 7:30 PM at Congregation Or Ami. 

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services will be held at the Weinstein JCC.  Professional Babysitting will be available during both services. (A donation of $5 per child is suggested).  We encourage families of young children to take advantage of this service so that parents may embrace the feeling of being part of Kehilah K’doshah, part of the holy community. Of course it would not be traditional Or Ami services if we did not have Tashlich or the Yom Kippur Afternoon service led by our own, David Goldsmith (Mr. G!)  Please bring your children and your bread and join us at 3:00 PM at Or Ami after the Rosh Hashanah service to cast our sins and enjoy storytelling with Mr. G.  Tashlich is casual and meaningful for young and old alike.  Our Yom Kippur Afternoon Children’s service will be held at the JCC following the morning service.  Again, this is a child centered but meaningful and entertaining service with David Goldsmith and his bag of tricks.  These services tie in closely with Mr. Goldsmith’s belief that Jewish learning can be fun and meaningful. We also extend our welcome to you to please join us for Break-the Fast following Yom Kippur Concluding services.  It is open to all and a great opportunity to relax and chat with old friends and make some new ones.  As always, we will be collecting food for the Central Virginia Food bank, so please do not forget those who may be in need in our community. Lastly, please note that this year; members of Or Ami will be receiving invitations to High Holiday services.  Please bring your invitations and arrive early if you wish to sit in the main room.  Open seating will begin at 10:15 AM for non-members and late arriving members.
