PURIM IS SUNDAY FEBRUARY 28!!

Sunday morning, February 28 the Religious School will celebrate Purim with a special program, filled with wackiness and joy. The megillah (Book of Esther) will be read in a very different way.

We ask every student to dress in the costume he/she wore on Halloween, or even a better one!

Then after Sunday School at noon, head directly to the Weinstein JCC for our community Purim Carnival. New games! Food! Music by our Klezm’OrAmi’m! Costume contest! Admission is a can of food for the Richmond area Food Bank and all proceeds will go there.

We need volunteers to man (or woman) the prize room at the carnival. Contact Majel Stein at 741-4550 or friendsteins@verizon.net if you can help. More information on all these events will be forthcoming.

Class Service Dates Set

It is an Or Ami tradition that every year, each class has the opportunity to write and lead a Shabbat service. Class services are usually preceded by congregational potluck dinners hosted by the parents of the class members and open to the entire congregation.

Dates for Class Services:

2nd & 3rd Grade Service - February 19th (7:30 p.m.)
4th & 5th Grade Service - March 19th (7:30 p.m.)
6th & 7th Grade Service - April 16th (7:30 p.m.)
Confirmation Service - May 18th (7:30 p.m.)
8th & 9th Grade Service - May 21st (7:30 p.m.)

Each class family is responsible for bringing a dish for the potluck AND a desert for the oneg. The parents are responsible for the set-up and decoration of tables for the potluck, as well as the clean-up afterwards.
The parents should also coordinate the purchase of:
• Paper plates & cups, plastic tableware, paper tablecloths, table decorations
• 2 challot (the plural of challah).
• Wine & grape juice for the kiddush
• Sodas & ice
