Religious School News
Dear Parents,
Did you know that we Jews are supposed to thank God 100 times each day, even on those most routine, mundane, hum-drum days? In the traditional siddur, there are at least 100 daily b'rachot (blessings) that make us aware of how blessed we are and how grateful we should be.
There is a group of traditional b'rachot as we wake up and prepare for the day. We thank God for our alarm clock (actually, the rooster), we thank God for allowing us to be able to take that first awake breath, to open our eyes and see, to get out of bed and stand, to have clothes to wear, and even to be able to use the bathroom. Imagine if you started your day in such a positive manner. Later we thank God for all the food we eat, for all the beautiful and for all the unusual things we see, for the good things that happen and even for the bad.
We all could add many more - for our family, our friends, for the roof over our heads, for our country, for all the technology that makes our lives easier, etc., etc.
On this, the month of Thanksgiving, have your children make a list of 100 things for which they are grateful on any given day. Try it yourself. It makes all the little irritations of life seem so much littler. We are indeed very blessed and need to be thankful for that.
Happy Thanksgiving,
David Goldsmith
Education Director

OMG News
OMG (acronym for OrAmi Middleschool Group) got off to a great start in October. Hanna Clinton was elected President (yes, we have a President Clinton), Riley Wilkinson is Vice President, Sage Miller is Secretary, Hannah London is Treasurer, and our Sergeants-at-Arms will be Sam Ranneklev and Ethan Bonda. Everyone who ran for office were wonderful sports and all will be involved.
Then on October 14 & 15, 13 members participated in a 19-hour Shabbaton, 10 of whom spent the night at the Temple. They participated in the congregational Friday night service, watched movies, had breakfast, had a learner's Shabbat service on Saturday, followed by lunch and a meeting. Activities were planned for the next few months.
